ABSTRACT: This seminar describes the origins and development of the concept of the 'bio-object' that has been built over the past four years by members of a European COST Action, drawing on expertise from a range of disciplines. I sketch out the core notions of bio-objectification and bio-identification and go on to explore their use in a number of empirical (and policy-related) settings.
