STIS at the Edinburgh Fringe

Continuing a STIS tradition, this year Matjaz Vidmar and Jim Lowe are presenting shows as part of the 'Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas' strand at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Continuing a STIS tradition, this year Matjaz Vidmar and Jim Lowe are presenting shows as part of the 'Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas' strand at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Matjaz’s show, ‘Is Astronaut Food the Future?’, explores food provisions in space, related nutritional research, and how environmental monitoring is changing food production on Earth. For instance, does lettuce grown on International Space Station taste the same? Come along to the New Town Theatre (Studio) at 8.10pm on 20th August to find out. Jim's show, 'Will Pigs Save Our Bacon?', deals with the complexities and recent developments in efforts to transplant organs from pigs to humans -- xenotransplantation. With a special guest speaking about recent applications of genome editing, and plenty of chance for discussion, Jim's show is at the New Town Theatre (Studio) at 1.30pm on Wednesday 22nd August.
